Hi my name is Scott Chambers I’m 6”7 and 300lbs and I played TE/DE at CSU (Colorado State University) for a few years. I never really got too much playing time due to being a back up. I did try to offer to play punter at CSU, as I feel I can kick really well, but I was quickly told that I shouldn’t try to be something I’m not and to concentrate on my current positions.
I feel I have a good set of hands for the a TE and feel I can tackle relatively well for a DE after spending my entire life growing up playing rugby which involves lots of running and tackling as I am sure you know.
I am not the quickest person around but feel I am not completely slow and useless on that aspect.
I am from Australia and New Zealand as I grew up mainly in Brisbane, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand and a little in England.
I started playing rugby when I was 2 years old and pretty much have from there on out. I have played rugby league and the rugby union form. I have been named MVP many times for single games and for the season. I also played cricket, soccer, hockey (both ice and field), Aussie rules football, and basketball. That is pretty much my career. I have tried out for many pro teams and even had a stint with the Australian U21’s and New Zealand U21’s for rugby. I went to training camp for the Brisbane Broncos and the New Zealand Warriors.
I have some questions about possibly making a run at becoming pro etc.
1. Due to me being foreign is this going to cause a problem for me in the future in attempting to become a NFL professional?
2. As I was not invited to the combine or draft, how do I go about trying to get picked up by a team?
3. Although I never got a chance to show off my punting skills, should I still offer punting as an option and how would I prove I am good at it?
4. As a TE/DE I think I can tackle and catch well, but how would I prove this?
5. I am still enrolled in classes at CSU, but soon to be done. Will this pose a problem at all, as clearly time is a factor as I still have classes to attend and other obligations?
6. Although the above are the positions I have played and been trained in, should I consider others?
7. If I find an agent how does it all work and what are fees I should expect?

You'll probably need to get a work visa but if you're in the pros. That team should be able to sponsor you.
2) As I was not invited to the combine or draft, how do I go about trying to get picked up by a team?
You will probably need an agent or start contact teams on your own.
3) Although I never got a chance to show off my punting skills, should I still offer punting as an option and how would I prove I am good at it?
You can see if smaller league teams have open tryouts for punters. But, a 300 lbs punter is rare.
4) As a TE/DE I think I can tackle and catch well, but how would I prove this?
AFL and AFL2 team usually let players play both ways.
5) I am still enrolled in classes at CSU, but soon to be done. Will this pose a problem at all, as clearly time is a factor as I still have classes to attend and other obligations?
You will have to manage your class schedule and tryouts.
6) Although the above are the positions I have played and been trained in, should I consider others?
Well, its going to be hard to get opportunities with a bigger league outside of your position. But, they smaller league will let you do it.
7) If I find an agent how does it all work and what are fees I should expect?
The NFL has a standard fees, the most is 3%. However, with the other league - an agent can charge any amount for his service. Usually, the agent get pays when you get pay. The expenses has to be agreed on, usually if the agent pays for your expenses you have to pay them back.
